Christian Laffin was the stand-out player and man of the match for Town with four tries to his name, followed closely by Dave Bartolo with three tries.
Goal kicker Brent Clark added to the healthy tally converting nine of his 12 attempts.
“We had good team involvement and we’re slowly building as a side,” Town coach Darren Munns said.
“We’re not getting carried away and we’ve got a lot of new players putting their hands up.”
Other try scorers for Town were Ben Watt with two tries, and Daryl Nahow, Rhyston Williamson and John Venz each with one.
Black Star coach Scott Kyle said the team’s loss would not be indicative of the season ahead.
“Town won very easily. They played well and we probably didn’t,” he said.
“Obviously it’s not a good feeling to be beaten by that much but we were missing a lot of players through injury and work commitments. The players that did play probably didn’t have the match fitness we needed but we can only get better from here.”
Gavin Bunny was named man of the match with Harley Hema acknowledged for his hit ups throughout the game.
In the second match of the night Wanderers secured a comfortable win thanks to good ball security and a strong defensive game.
“It was a strong disciplined performance by Wanderers in a tough match,” coach Darryl Duncan said.
“The foundation was set by a strong performance by the forwards which gave the backs room to move.”
Man of the match was awarded jointly to Boy Page and Brendan Baillie.
“Boy shouldered an awesome workload in the middle while Baillie was class in every facet of the game,” Duncan said.
“Carl Bambrick and Ben Martin took the game to the opposition strongly all night as well.”
Josh Gatehouse , Baillie and Marth O’Brien scored two tries each with Matty McNamara scoring one.
Three tries were converted by Baillie and two by Tim O’Sullivan.
Wanderers coach Barry Riddiford was less than impressed with his team’s effort, citing lazy defence, too much drop ball and too many penalties as the reason for the loss.
“We were too undisciplined in defence,” he said.
“It was scrappy play and it took us 27 minutes before we completed one set of six tackles.”
Tries were scored by Anthony Saltmere, Trevor Chong, Quinton Marshall and Rowan Marshall with conversions by Saltmere and Quinton Marshall.
Kevin Richards was named man of the match.
