Assault leaves female cop bruised and bloodied

A female police officer was badly assaulted during an arrest in southern Queensland on Saturday.Police said the officer was left bruised and bloodied after the incident in Goondiwindi, where three police officers were attending a disturbance in Stafford Street.An 18-year-old woman allegedly hit the officer, cracking her teeth, as her two male colleagues were arresting a 20-year-old man, police said.As the male officers were taking the man out to their patrol car, another woman allegedly punched the female police officer again, this time splitting her lip, police said.The two women then followed the three officers out to the street and hit the female officer again, splitting her cheek.The 18-year-old woman was due to appear in Warwick Magistrates Court today on three charges of serious assault of a police officer and two charges of obstructing a police officer.The man was charged with an addition count of assault occasioning bodily harm from the original incident.Police were continuing investigations into the second woman.
